GoldFire Music was created out of the desire to give children the opportunity to be educated in the disciplines of the musical tradition in a safe, warm and structured environment with an older mentor who would not only provide them with the technical framework for learning a given instrument but a role-model to look up to. Our goal as a school is 3-fold:

1. A holistic education in the world of music and art with a focus on the contemporary as well as the historic.

2. Training in life-skills such as resilience, patience, discipline, team-work & problem solving through the context of weekly lessons, performances and camps. All applied to the musical landscape.

3. Development of a person culture of creativity and self-expression helping to deal with the questions and challenges of a modern world.

Founded by Mitch McDonough, the goal has always been for children to grow and develop into their best self and to give them the necessary skills to express themselves musically. 

Mitch McDonough is a Sydney-based musician, artist and music educator who has a passion for teaching music in a way that facilitates expression, joy and an integration of the whole person. Teaching for over 10 years and gaining his Bachelor of Music Performance from the Australian Institute of Music, Mitch brings to the table a wealth of experience in performing, recording, composing & teaching music. Matched with his down-to-earth temperament and confidence he brings out the best in any student that he teaches. The team of tutors that support him reflect these same skills, values & care for the individual.
